Let’s Talk: About Marijuana Edibles

If you want to experience the powerful psychoactive effects of cannabis and a delectably enjoyable method of consumption, nothing quite compares to marijuana edibles. Edibles can affect you in a similar way that smoking weed does. However, the effects of consuming edibles can be significantly stronger and last longer.

Edibles can be found in a variety of treats such as candies, gummies, brownies, beverages, and much more!

In this blog, we are going to talk marijuana edibles! Yay! No one loves them more than me!

Although making marijuana edibles will require a little more effort than just purchasing edibles, it’s a task that yields reward for anyone that loves marijuana. Get creative! Because regardless of what types of foods or drinks you enjoy, you can infuse them with the medicinal benefits of cannabis. In addition, you have the flexibility to use any strain of marijuana to achieve your desired high.

Making edibles at home is quite straightforward, however, some of the steps can be time-consuming. You will need to decarboxylate….

Wait!  What does it mean to decarboxylate?!

Well, all cannabinoids contained within the trichomes of raw cannabis flowers have an extra carboxyl ring or group (COOH) which are attached to their chain. Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) for example, is synthesized within the trichome heads of cannabis flowers that are freshly harvested. For the most part, THCA is typically the highest cannabinoid present in items that have not been decarboxylated such as concentrates and cannabis flowers.

THCA has a number of known benefits when consumed, including having anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective qualities. But THCA is not intoxicating and must be converted into THC through decarboxylation before any effects can be felt.

So, going back before our informational scientific segue, you will need to decarboxylate your cannabis, infuse it into some sort of fat such as butter or oil, and then add it to other recipes or meals/beverages to enjoy the powerful effects. That being said, it is well worth the time spent, especially as edibles give you such an incredible high. Keep reading our blog for the steps to make the perfect marijuana edibles.
